This website

These pages use no cookies, analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts. There is no photo upload form on this website.

Accounts and identifiers

The app has no accounts. Plant Trouble does not ask for names or email addresses and does not create its own persistent user ID. The Google AdMob software that shows the video ads may collect device identifiers, such as the advertising ID, for frequency capping, ad measurement and fraud prevention, even though the ads are non-personalised.

Photos

Photos are used only for the check. The app is designed to delete its temporary copies afterwards; on-device deletion and provider retention are being verified before launch. Photos are sent to third-party AI services, which may include OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI, and Pl@ntNet depending on the check.

Third-party AI processing

Photos are sent to image services (OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI, Pl@ntNet). If you type a plant name or choose a country, that text is sent with the photos to the image services. Text-only check information (confirmed plant name, observations, answers, country) is sent to text services (OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI, Anthropic) to produce the result. A check does not necessarily use every provider.

Country

You select Australia, United States, or Other. Your country is not derived from your IP address.

Video ads

The app shows non-personalised rewarded ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect data for ad serving and measurement. See Google’s information about data use on partner sites and apps.

Local check records

An anonymous event log may be written on the operator’s local service machine (not hosted). It can include the date and time, the selected country, device type and app version, the number of photos, ad and funnel outcomes, the confirmed plant name, issue and plan summaries, and model, usage and cost data. It contains no photos or stable IDs.

Per-check records on the operator’s service machine are kept for up to 90 days and then deleted. Totals with no per-check detail (counts and costs) may be kept longer.

Age

The app is for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13.

If a parent believes a child under 13 has used it, they can email privacy@planttrouble.com. Check records contain no names, photos or stable IDs, so we’ll delete any records we can match from the details provided (for example the date and time of the check).

Deletion requests

Email privacy@planttrouble.com to request deletion. Because no stable ID is stored, most requests can be handled by date or a description of the check.
